Elsa – Blitzan Eternal Sunshine

An apt name for her as Elsa has really been our
little ray of sunshine during a mostly wet and grey summer.
She is my second Munsterlander and came to
us at seven weeks old and is now nearly seven months old.
Maggie who is two years old fell in love
with her from day one as did we all and Elsa adopted Maggie as her new
mum.

Maggie even made sure Elsa ate all her dinner when
she first came!
May have been an ulterior motive here
though!
So far Elsa has been easier and more obedient
on walks than Maggie was at that age. This could be because I learnt
a lot from Maggie or that she learns from Maggie or just because she
is calmer in nature. Her recall is good and although she does like
to follow Maggie she is also miss independent and likes to do her
own thing.
When she was little she didn’t like to
go too far away from me but didn’t like Maggie disappearing and so
learnt to stand on two feet so she could see where Maggie was.
She is such a loving and happy girl, forever up to
mischief but does love to please and has been a joy to train as she is
so clever.
My kids love her and she adores attention
from my daughter and will sit for ever being stroked or brushed.
We recently got a shire horse in the field
and we are in the process of getting her calm around her.
At the moment Elsa is fascinated by this
huge animal in the field but she is getting better.
I am hoping to take her to her first show in
September and maybe in the future some field trials.
Mostly all she has chased so far is butterflies but
she is getting more confident and has started to hunt more seriously.
Last week she actually caught a pigeon which
I think surprised her more than me.
Because of her sweet nature though she was very
happy to give it to me when asked.
She has starting to go further a field now too but
comes back often to check in and will wait for me if asked to.
I will be forever grateful to Ali for giving me ‘Eternal Sunshine’ my
beautiful Blitzan girl, Elsa.
Elsa
is full of joie de vivre and what’s wonderful about that is that a
certain amount of that rubs off on us and even when you feel in the
worst of moods Elsa will always make you smile. In fact you know how you
always think your dogs are the best ones in the world – well mine truly
are!
