Scroll down this page for an introduction to ALL of
our dogs. Blitzan Large Munsterlanders are bred for their superb
temperaments They live with us as members of the family and provide all
of us Our family consists of me, Ali, Andrew and our son, James
and with 10 dogs, 8 cats, numerous chickens, rabbits and Water Buffalo! there is never a dull moment and never a spare minute. Having all the dogs is a blessing and not a job more of a way of a way of life, we enjoy every aspect of being owned by the dogs and certainly couldn't imagine our lives without any of them. Each and everyone of them have their own unique traits and characters and never a day goes by without them making us smile or laugh, a warning to heed though, they are seriously addictive! Showing, working and breeding the dogs we all give it 100% and having a litter means that for 8 weeks or so that we have the puppies with us it is a full time job. I like to introduce them to family life, the hustle and bustle that a family can produce, the household noises and comings and goings, they are taught that they have their fun time running around and joining in family life, they have the quiet times for cuddles and then they have their alone time back in the puppy room so they are used to being left for short periods of time, when they are first born I sleep in the room with Mother and babies and as they get older they are gradually introduced to the family way of life. As I said having all our gang is very much a way of life for all of us. James, son is now 13 years old, Andrew and I are very
proud of his natural way with all animals, and his great success in showing
not only his and our dogs but several other owners ask James to show for
them as well. At the bottom of the page I have included some of the other animals, yes including the Water Buffalo and Chickens!!!!
Blitzan Tamar - Zeta
Zeta is Logi's litter sister and she is a real treasure, a Veteran now and retired at 9 years old. She started her show career on style by winning Best puppy Bitch at her first show and then Best bitch puppy at Crufts she has always held her own. Shown by James she has been the perfect dog to teach James how to show a dog, a patient, gentle and very loving girl, she dotes on James and just loves to do anything you ask her to. Unable to have puppies she makes a great Aunt, but she loves most of all out in the fields digging! digging for what? - I have never been sure but she does enjoy it, swimming is her other passion, she has been known to swim far, far out to sea and has given me many a heart attack watching her disappear off into the sunset! She would happily spend all day out in the garden just don't forget her at tea time. A great character she loves to tell you things but only when she needs to. To sum her up she is a sweetheart who loves everyone and dotes on her young master, James, they make a great team. Zeta snap shots!
Show Champion Blitzan Rhine JW ShCm - Logi
My boy Logi, he is such a star, he just excels at everything we do with him, (see the show page for his show results) but to live with him he is just perfect, loving, loyal and very well behaved, he is like a male version of Tarka. Completely a Mummy's boy and a big baby, he is passing all his special traits and characteristics on to his many children. Welcoming to any dogs that visit or travel in our car with him, he is just the perfect gentleman. Not sure what to say about him as he is just so perfect, a great cuddle monster in bed or on the sofa, great company where ever I take him and a firm favorite of many judges. As a working boy he is very biddable and very keen and never misses a bird. A dream of a dog who I hope will be with us for many more years to come. We missed Crufts this year as Logi was taken ill, not a problem as I had to stay home with him, he needed his Mum, I would happily give up any prize won just to have him healthy and happy, that goes for all our dogs. He has won many Top Awards but nothing means more than the way he has welcomed Darcy into the family, a real father figure, a male who does not mind sharing his life with all the boys and girls. All in all my star!
Logi's snap shots!
Raycris Falcons Gift to Blitzan AI - Maddison
Maddison, or Maddie 'B' as we call her most of the time, is an absolute sweetheart, litter sister to Fancy her mother was one of the first Munsterlanders to be artificially inseminated. Unable to be bred from she doesn't miss the whole motherhood lark, she is a happy girl, fun loving and very chatty. If she has something to tell you don't try to stop her as she wont give up until she has said what she wants to say! Very much a Mummy's girl, she has been known to return home from walks if I am not with her. Great to show or in fact do anything with she just loves being with me and doing things for me. A great retriever she loves to greet you with something in her mouth, this doesn't stop her talking though! As a youngster she had a horrific accident when she got caught on a poachers trap, she escaped death, just, and made a full recovery and as a patient she was perfect. Now at 7 years old she is a great member of the family a little OTT at times but we wouldn't be without her. Maddie refuses to grow up and still thinks she is a youngster! Maddie's snap shots.
Show Champion Blitzan Leahs Stunner JW - Diva
Diva by name Diva by nature, such a happy fun loving girl, and a real show off. One of the biggest characters in our family, making us laugh on a daily basis, she is a real performer and quite a clown as well. She thinks she is human and deserves all the luxuries that humans have, including traveling on the front seat of the car, if she can get away with it! She has had two litters of exceptionally gorgeous babies, we drove to Sweden to mate her for the second time and she was an angel, completely took the long journey, several Ferry trips all in her stride, we kept two of her babies, Tetra and Darcy. A loyal girl once she gets to know you she loves you to pieces and will tell you so over and over again, she has been known to knock glasses of Judges and friends. As a puppy she showed her socks off but the more she does it the more she enjoys it and we all know when she is loving it as she hardly keeps her feet on the ground! Yes she does jump up and kiss the judges from time to time, maybe that's why she is so memorable and has won so much. As a working girl in the field she is a fast precise worker, never misses a bird and always soft mouthed. Diva a girl who will always be admired. Now she has her two children she takes mother hood very seriously and reminds us a lot of her dear Mum, Leah. She loves watching us cuddle her babies and has this look of immense pride!!! Diva's snap shots.
STOP PRESS: At the Large Munsterlander Club show Diva won her title as a Show Champion in style with a record entry of over 100 Munsterlanders and then went on to win Reserve Best In Show Thanks to Judge: Mr. G Hargreaves.
Summertime Temptress At Blitzan - Summer
Summer is Logi's daughter. Back in May 2005, Logi was visited by Corrie, a young lady from Somerset, they produced 11 gorgeous babies. Unfortunately Corrie was rather ill, so we offered to have the babies come to us at 10 days old to help rear them and wean them. It was decided that it would be easier with all my 5 girls here to help with the mothering. The babies arrived looking very fit well and fat and guess who chose to take on the job as mother, guess who chose to wash them, clean them cuddle them and love them? LOGI, yes daddy stepped up to the line and adored being with them. He slept with them and would barely come out of the box. I have never heard of a stud dog taking over from Mum, but then Logi is a special boy! They went back to their owner at 4 weeks and when we visited them at 6 weeks old we ended up coming home with Summer. She takes after her Dad is as much as she loves cuddles and is very loyal and loving. Summer has had her first litter of babies and is Mum of our Stella. She broke her leg at 8 months old and we were very pleased when at nearly a year old she went to her first Championship show where she won Best Puppy in Breed. She has not really been shown much as yet but may step it up a gear this year. Summer's snap shots.
Blitzan Absolutely Fab - prima
Prima Donna, or Prima Ballerina is a real sweetie, daughter of Fancy and Logi she is just a poppet. James has taken on the job of showing her, he managed to qualify her for Crufts the first time he showed her, she really listens to him and paces herself to his stride. At home she is James's shadow, where he goes, she goes. As a baby she had a mild water works problem so she had to sleep in a huge cage at night, now two years on she wont go to sleep if she can't get in her cage, she loves her special place, I have on more than one occasion found both Prima and James asleep in there with the door wide open! She loves training of any kind and is like a sponge always learning and copying, unfortunately that includes all of Summer's bad habits, the two together and the terrible two. Out on walks she is so fast, she covers the ground at great speed and with great elegance and style, very effortlessly. At three years old she is still very much the baby of the family and all the others treat her as such ,making allowances for her, so she gets away with everything. A quirk of Prima is her love of a chest rub and she will walk up to and lift her front leg up and out to the side so you can rub her chest, I am just waiting for her to do it to a judge one day! Prima is totally Jamie's little girl and the two are inseparable, a real treasure of the family. She will be the next Mum in the Blitzan home. Unlike Diva Prima is a definite tom boy at heart!!! Maybe because she spends every minute she can playing with James, I'm not sure, but a Tom boy she is!! Prima's snap shots.
Blitzan Eternal Mischief - Tetra
Little Miss Tetra, or is that Princess Tetra is such an intelligent girl. Diva's daughter and yes she is a chip of the old block!!! She loves tennis balls and always has one in her mouth but even more than that she loves all the other dogs, working very hard, sometimes too hard to get their attention and affection!!! She is aptly named as Mischief is her game, always into something, however tell her off once and she will not do it again, she is just so eager to please. Very pretty and put together very nicely I look forward to bringing her out to the Championship shows. As the picture shows she is a Princess, loves her creature comforts and has her own pillow on Jamies double bed!!!!
Tetra's snap shots.
Blitzan Eternal Chaos - Darcy
Another of Diva's babies and litter brother to Tetra. Darcy is a big soft dollop, gorgeous head and expression you look at him and smile. Like his sister he tries very hard to please us, but before he worked on us he worked very hard on our two top dogs, Logi and Tarka. He was determined they would love and accept him, refusing to cuddle up with us and opting to cuddle up with them. Well it worked, Logi adores him, they spend ages playing together, snuggling up to sleep and Logi now feels he needs to look after Darcy. Once he had won those two over he relaxed a bit and now loves to cuddle up on the sofa with me. So laid back he is horizontal, full of fun and yes he can be chaotic, he is a big boy with legs and feet to match, the trouble is his coordination is not the best yet, we have to watch out when he comes running as fast as he can towards us. He is more than happy to let Tetra take the lead, often ending up in all sorts of predicaments, with Tetra getting away with it all. He got his head stuck in a Cornflake box recently and nearly demolished the house trying to blindly find his way to me for help!!! Hilarious would be a good word to describe Darcy and his antics. Not a nasty bone in his body and extremely submissive I am sure he will be not only a major member of our family but a very useful stud dog too. We are very proud of both the puppies and the long trek across Europe was worth it all. Darcy's snap shots.
Blitzan Gentle Breeze - Bree
Bree is our little angel, she came along at the perfect time and has helped heal the wound of losing my dear Tarka. Born 3th February 2010, daughter of Summer and Darcy I had not intended to keep from the litter. At under a week old she had decided she was picking me, no joke, if I went past the whelping box she would sense me and wriggle out of the bundle of babies and come and find me, usually sitting in the whelping box next to Summer. Before her eyes open she knew she was staying. She was more intent on cuddling up with me than staying on the milk bar. She is so like her Great, Great Granny Tarka, it's a little spooky, she has so many of Tarka's character traits, that the others don't. Only 4 months old and she is such an angel, perfect recall, never chews anything, gentle with us, the other dogs and Cats, such a star. Showing is taking a bit of a back seat for us as we concentrate on our new farm, so not sure if Bree will be shown, besides not sure I would want anyone criticising my baby, she's a bit special to me! All the dogs are, but she seems so sweet and innocent and so well behaved!!! Probably wont last but am loving it whilst it does. She loves us all, but has a huge soft spot for her Daddy Darcy, he is great fun to play rough and tumble with, and the best to play chase me with!!! Mummy Summer is more cuddly and Granddad Logi is the bestest to snuggle up to at night. But her most favorite is Zeta, and the feeling is most definitely mutual, it's lovely to see as Tarka and Zeta were very close and when we lost Tarka, Zeta has felt quite lost without, that is until baby Bree helped fill the void, bless her a totally adored Gentle baby.
Sadly Gone But not Forgotten Gentle Zephyr of Home Von Blitzan - Tarka
It breaks my heart to write this but we lost our most special girl, January 20th 2010. She had not been too well since Christmas and she lost her battle. I am totally lost without my special girl and even now as I type this some 4 months on I still miss her dreadfully. Tarka was so unique, totally My Girl we spent very minute of the day together. She was the matriarch of the family and she leaves a huge gap in our family. The rest of the family are gradually settling down without their figure head but it has taken some time for them to come to terms with her passing away. Who Tarka was.... Tarka, the Grand old lady of the family, now 15 years old she has recently had a few health scares but wont let it stop her coming everywhere I go in the car. She isn't bothered in going for walks although does love a mooch around the farm. Her nick names include, Bella as she is a genuinely beautiful girl. Tarka is such a special lady, she has never been told off as she has never done anything wrong, she is Great Great Granny to our youngest, Tetra and Darcy and long may she continue her reign at the top, one in a million. A fantastic ambassador for the breed, who views showing as a social occasion not to run around the ring, (that's boring to her) but she does love to go to shows to meet and greet all the other Munsterlanders and owners, Julie and dear old Herman were her bestest pals! Tarka was Mum to Leah and Solo and all the Blitzan 'R' Litter born in 1998. A Tribute to Tarka Our grand old lady has left us, and
left a massive hole in our family. All our family are special and
dearly loved but once in a lifetime we all have that one in a million dog,
your constant companion who knows your every thought, your every mood, and
your every need, Tarka was that girl to me. She loved everyone, a social
girl who didn’t much care for showing but did love going to the shows,
purely to socialise, for many years she had a few special pals, Herman,
Holly, Flight and Sarek. I on more than one occasion caught her rifling
through Julie’s show bag, ready to help herself to Herman’s tasty treats.
She was such a lady and never a cross word. She started off the Blitzan family
by producing a truly special litter after her marriage to Baron Hadley, she
survived several of her children including our own Solo and Leah. She only
had the one litter as she had hormone troubles and was never ‘right’ in that
department until she was spayed. But Tarka was so much more than a
show dog and a Mother, she was my soul mate, my constant companion and a
part of me, everything I did I did with Tarka in mind, shopping, was Tarka’s
bed in the car ready for her to join me, visiting relatives – had I packed
Tarka’s bag, she never minded being left at home but I minded leaving her at
home. Living at home with us Tarka was our matriarch, boss of the house head
of the our 10 dogs, she never needed to put anyone in their place as she
ruled with a withering look, the ‘Tarka Eye’, even Andrew was given the look
on more than one occasion, I mean how dare he ask her to move, she was after
all sat on the sofa next to me!!! She would move but only after she looked
up at me to ask if she really had to!!! She saw a lot of changes in her life
and moved around the country with us as Andrews work had us move almost on a
yearly basis but she would wonder in to the new home and make it just that,
our home. I am so pleased she got to share a bit of time at our final home,
our own farm. I am so grateful to Jill Orme for
letting me have my girl, there were only two girls in her litter and she
most definitely chose me, I shared my life with Tarka and she shared
everything with me, I had her for longer than I have had my son and I still
miss her terribly, I am lucky as I do have her Grand children, Great
Grandchildren and G G Grand children, and our newest addition Bree is
already showing a lot of Tarka’s character traits, so at least she can live
on. I didn’t think I would be able to write this as to be honest there is so
much more I would like to say, but this is just a tiny tribute to my One in
a Million. Although she was always my girl; she did love and adore Andrew
and James and they of course loved her too they miss her like I do. I can’t
fit in everything I would like to say so will finish now with these words,
Love you Tarks.
Blitzan Rhapsody - Leah
Sadly we lost our darling girl, she was diagnosed with a mammary tumor, which we had removed within days of finding it. Unfortunately it was a secondary one and the Cancer had spread to her blood stream, we lost her just three short weeks later. Leah leaves a massive hole in our family and is missed by all of us. ╬ Blitzan Rhapsody - Leah Our Party Girl a Mother to all She is the star that shines at night, The flock of birds that take to flight, A Mum in a million, Who made families complete Our Special girl who made each day a treat.
Leah, was our party girl, Loopy Leah as a youngster, but as an older lady she was Mother Earth, Leah had three litters of puppies. all of which she had without any veterinary intervention, a born to be natural mother, and believe it or not she had a total of 43 puppies in those three litters. Mum to our Logi, Zeta and Diva, she spent every evening going around and washing all of the dogs, including her Mum, Tarka. She was only 10 1/2 when we lost her a very sweet older lady, who liked her home comforts, and she was a real bed hog in bed at night! A bit accident prone when she was younger she was out working one day when she jumped a dry stone wall to point a bird in the undergrowth on the other side only to have a sharp slate like stone come down and chop her beautiful tail in half, not put off she held her point and only came to me after she had flushed and retrieved the bird, and her tail was literally hanging off, she was not impressed at the sudden trip to the vets and the surgery that followed and even less impressed by the enforced rest she had to have whilst the half still attached to her healed. A typical Munsterlander work first everything else second! By the way the injury didn't stop her winning her stud book number and qualifying for Crufts for life.
Blitzan Ringleader - Solo
Solo, is sadly no longer with us, he died suddenly in 2006 and still we having a gaping hole in our family, he was a beautiful big, hairy Teddy bear, loved to pieces his heart was out working, he just loved it so much, always a bit too self conscious in the show ring. A well used stud dog he has left his legacy in all the beautiful, well mannered children he produced. Sadly gone but not forgotten and still very much loved.
